kellyplanet STT Updates NEW YEARS EVE '23

Happy New Years Eve everybody,

There are some big updates coming up for 2024, some haven't had a re-design in years. These changes have always been planned to coincide more with Convergence Day, as there just isn't enough time. The biggest thing is a complete reworking of the interface that combines the character card concept (which I had designed initially) with the index images. The cards will pop up and overlay over the index images and contain more information than ever before. These overlays are able to be pinned to your screen independently of each other so you can see more than one at a time... it's pretty cool. All the jQuery mechanics and CSS are hashed out in my sandbox, I just have a bunch of tedious work to do on it yet. 

I have completed a bunch of cosmetic upgrades before the New Year, however. The color palate for Legendary, Super Rare, Rare, and Uncommon Crew has been updated to be identical to the colors used in the game. I probably should have done this back in 2018, but I think my plan was to use similar colors that provided a better contrast on the screen. The new 'greens' and 'blues' are a bit mute for my taste, but they match the game and allow more distinction from other colors I use on this site. 

These color changes are also reflected on the icons at the top of all the MyCrew pages, Gauntlet Combos, and the Ships. 

Some smaller things are that I flatted out the Ships menu on the home page for desktop and changed the MyCrew file icons. I plan on streamlining the whole MyCrew experience and doing the STT home page completely in blocks, but I haven't gotten to that yet.

A few years ago I developed a dynamic LCARS display and it was pretty nifty. It used to be located in the STT sidebar, but I removed it for performance reasons. The display has found new life as it now displays the latest Crew on the kellyplanet home page. 

This is my sixth New Years Eve since launching this program (which was originally designed just for me, imagine that) and it still astonishes me how many Captains use this site. You are all awesome.
