This probably shouldn`t bother me as much as it does, but they made at least four different versions of the same commercial. Despite the proclamations, summer is definitely not here. It won`t be for well over a month.
Summer begins with the Summer Solstice around June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere, and ends around September 21st. The solstice has the longest period of daylight during the year.
If you want to defend Toyota`s advertising agency, some cultures consider the 21st of June Midsommar, literally the middle of summer. But if you do that, the season would begin and end much earlier, which wouldn`t make sense to the target audience.
Don`t get me wrong, it would be great if summer was upon us, but that`s just not the case. This Summer Starts Here promotion ends on May 31st - which, by my calendar - means it ends three weeks before summer even begins.
Perhaps my discontent stems from the fact that this ad comes up on my stream at least twice an hour. Hearing \"Summer`s Here!\" constantly is a bit depressing.
