Star Trek Timelines recently published the survey results about their weekly events. I just wanted to give my two cents on the numbers that came up. The point of this was to see what players thought of the new Specialist Event and the continued use of Galaxy Events. I was a little surprised.
As you can see from the pie charts, Galaxy Events are still greatly favored. I find this interesting, as they are designed to require very little skill from your Crew. One can rank quite well as long as enough time and chronitons are spent. This is great for newer players, but I find the rewards rather paltry, and I myself usually just play until I get whatever the new Super-Rare Crew is that week. I would suggest if they want Captains like myself to play further, either a Legendary or non-Portal Super-Rare has got to be in the mix.
You can also see that ~70% of respondents claim to have played Expedition Events. Those have not been around for several years, so this data is coming from veteran Captains.
This graph shows us that Skirmish Events are the most favored, and that doesn't surprise me at all. All you need is the Borg Cube and a half-decent Crew and this event is a breeze. I like them because the awards are worthwhile. You can spend enough chronitons to complete the whole event, and end up with more than you started.
Faction events are geared toward more seasoned players, so second place makes sense. The new Specialist Event is ranked the lowest, and yeah, they are kind of meh. I think it would be interesting to bring Expedition Events back.
These are just my opinions, and I understand that not everyone plays the same way I do.
