Chesapeake is Kind of Shallow i dunno? 240503

You’d think it is rather deep, but it isn’t.

The Chesapeake Bay is a pretty large body of water. It’s 200 miles long and up to 30 miles wide.
All of the water from my part of Pennsylvania eventually ends up there.

The thing is, the whole bay only has an average depth of 21 feet. That’s kind of shallow. The Hudson
River is deeper than that.

The shipping lanes are maintained at 50 feet, and the Bay Bridge Tunnels are up to 75 feet
below the surface.

So that means that there are large portions of the bay at much less than 20 feet.

I’ve been out there fishing in a little boat at it seemed deep enough to me.
