Mr. Yuk is from Pittsburgh i dunno? 240517

The whole Mr. Yuk thing kind of backfired.

I don’t know if this is still a thing, but when I was a kid they would give us sheets of Mr. Yuk
stickers in school. We were supposed to go home and slap them on dangerous household chemicals so
we wouldn’t… drink them, I dunno.

These things were neon green and looked like an emoji and it turns out they drew more small children to
chemicals than their original intention.

I guess the traditional symbol for poison… the skull and crossbones… had lost it’s effectiveness,
so this is what the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine came up with in 1971.

Yeah, it’s a Pennsylvania thing, but apparently Mr. Yuk used to be everywhere.
