KELLYPLANET has teamed up with our local community to create the “4Penny” Initiative. Our goals are to raise funds to benefit Penny’s family and increase awareness of domestic violence.
At the end of July, we lost a dear and beloved woman when she was brutally murdered in her home. Family, friends, and the entire community have been deeply affected by this tragic and senseless act.
Commemorative T-shirts were created to help with her final expenses. NEVER FORGET. Order forms were available locally by volunteers and Your Mama’s Mug. Online sales were made available right here on kellyplanet.com. The response and popularity of these shirts was nearly overwhelming. The order deadline had to be moved four times. 100% of the proceeds were donated to Penny’s family.

HOW THIS GOT STARTED: Still reeling from this terrible incident, members of our community (particularly Erika K - who first called me - and Sarah J - whom has taken this on as a mission) wanted to raise awareness and funds for Penny's family, which is easier said than done. Who ya gonna call? Well, not the Ghostbusters in this case. Of course I thought this was a fantastic idea and Penny was my friend too - kellyplanet is on board. So we got to work. It took some time in close collaboration with Penny's family, but within 2 weeks the 4Penny Initiative was a thing and I am very proud to personally endorse this as well as provide all the technical and logistic aspects necessary to make it happen.
This is just a note from me (erickelly). I have heard that there may be concerns that the proceeds from this fundraiser would go to anyone besides Penny's family. This is ridiculously untrue. kellyplanet has a proud history of generous community projects and fundraising programs. I assure you, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Penny's family.
