Water horses? Not so much.

Let’s talk about Hippos. They’re kinda cute, but they sure are mean. They kill like 500 people every
year, that’s way more than sharks… and hippos are herbivores.

Hippopotomai, or Hippopotamuses – both are correct in English – I try to go by the if it’s Latin – ai,
if it’s Greek – ususes… Hippopotamus means ‘river horse’ in ancient Greek.

Anyway, what I find interesting is that the Hippo’s closest relatives are cetaceans: whales, dolphins,
and porpoises. Which all once lived on land. So before they decided to become aquatic again, whales
probably looked much like hippos do now. I dunno.
