Fishers Aren’t Fishers i dunno? 240506

They don’t even eat fish. What’s up with that?

Turns out I don’t know squat about these things.

Apparently, they are all over the place, including Pennsylvania. I’ve never seen one.
Sometimes these are called fisher cats, but they’re not cats. Fishers are mustelids, like weasels,
or otters, or wovlerines.

And they don’t eat fish. So why are they called fishers? I guess they resemble European polecats, and the
word for their pelts in several languages sounds like fiche… or fitch.

I dunno.
