The writers are experimenting with another A, B, C story thread. The main one involves a symbiote candidate that deals with Dax. Another universe is created, but who cares about that when emotions are invovled?

would have rather had this episode primarily deal with the new, expanding universe, but what do I know? Instead we get Geoffrey Blake (no offense to him) talking to Jadzia Dax forever. Jake and his older Bajoran Dabo Girl girlfriend are mentioned too, but none of that really matters. Let`s throw the great Sci-Fi aside, and concentrate on emotional stuff. This happened in TNG all the time. It`s not a bad episode.
