Star Trek Actors in the Stargate Universe – Part Two – Learn Stuff

Star Trek and Stargate are two of the most successful science fiction franchises of all time. With well over 1000 television episodes between them (not to mention movies), it should come as no surprise that many actors have played roles in both universes. Some have had only single appearances, while others played major roles in both franchises. The total list is quite extensive, so let’s check out part two.

Tony Todd

Horror icon Tony Todd has been on Star Trek quite a bit. Between The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, he played Worf’s brother Kurn four times. He also portrayed the elderly version of Jake Sisko and has lent his voice to several ‘Trek video games. On SG-1, Todd played Lord Haikon three times between 2005 and 2006.

Saul Rubinek

Saul Rubinek is a Canadian actor who was on both Star Trek and Stargate. Back in 1990, he played Kivas Fajo as a last minute replacement. He was also Emmett Bregman on two episodes of SG-1 in 2004.

Jolene Blalock

Series regular T’Pol was played by a very tan and brunette Jolene Blalock in 97 episodes of Enterprise. She has played a female Vulcan more than anyone else. Between 2003 and 2004, Blalock was also on SG-1 as Ishta in “Sacrifices and Birthright”.

Brian Markinson

Brian Markinson has been on ‘Trek four times, and is one of only a few actors to play two different characters on the same show (Jeffrey Combs also comes to mind). He started off as Vorin in the 1994 TNG episode “Homeward”. In 1995 he was on Voyager twice as Lieutenant Durst, pulling double duty as Sulan in “Faces”. Later, he played Dr. Elias Giger on DS9 in 1997. Markinson was on a single episode of SG-1 as Lotan, in 2000’s episode “Scorched Earth”.

René Auberjonois

Holy French name Batman! OK, so the way you pronounce this is “AWE-BEAR-JEN-WAH” with the “J” like “Jacques”. René Auberjonois has played a shapeshifter on Star Trek more than anyone else as Odo in 173 episodes of Deep Space Nine. He also played Douglas Pabst and Curzon Dax, as well as Ezrel on Enterprise and Colonel West in The Undiscovered Country. Jumping over the the Stargate Universe, he portrayed Alar on the SG-1 episode “The Other Side”. Unfortunately, like most of the cast of The Original Series, Auberjonois is no longer with us. He died back in 2019.

Thomas Kopache

When it comes to Star Trek, Thomas Kopache is a busy fellow. He’s been a Romulan, Vulcan, Bajoran, hologram, a human in the movie Generations, and several other assorted aliens across TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise. He makes this list for his role as Ellori on the SG-1 episode “Prophecy” in 2003.

John de Lancie

John de Lancie has been Q ever since the very first episode of The Next Generation back in 1987, and still is today. He played the omnipotent trickster on eight episodes of TNG, three of Voyager, DS9, Continues, Lower Decks, Picard and several video games. de Lancie also portrayed Colonel Frank Simmons on five episodes of Stargate SG-1.
