Voyager’s Doctor Had a lot of Prior Experience

Robert Picardo is famous for portraying the Emergency Medical Hologram Mk.1 on Star Trek: Voyager. Though, that’s not the first (or last) time he would be a Doc on screen. Not even close.

Picardo’s first foray was as Dorothy’s surgeon on The Golden Girls in 1986. He then played doctors on Jack’s Back and Loverboy, both in 1988. Then came a series role as Dr. Dick Richard on China Beach from 1988 to 1991. After this already impressive resume, he then landed the role of Voyager’s EMH from 1995-2001. The EMH also appeared in the film Star Trek: First Contact in 1996. Come to think of it, Picardo also portrayed the creator of the EMH, Dr. Lewis Zimmerman, on Voyager several times.

But he’s not done yet. Since Voyager, Robert Picardo has been an on-screen doctor at least TWELVE times as of 2021. Oh yeah, he’s from Philly 😉
