Star Trek & Stargate: RENE AUBERJONOIS
Rene Auberjonois is famous as Odo, the Constable of Deep Space Nine who appeared in all but five episodes. For the first two seasons, we hadn’t met any others of his species and he was thought to perhaps be the only one. Auberjonois was on ‘Trek both before and after DS9. Well… sort of. He had the role of Colonel West in 1991’s The Undiscovered Country, but his scenes were cut from the theatrical version. Those scenes were restored for the home media versions. I find this interesting for two reasons- A: Starfleet was modeled after the United States Navy, and there is no rank of Colonel (and I think he is the only one ever is Starfleet). B: his rank was in dialogue only. The uniform he wore in the movie showed a rank of Vice Admiral (which does make sense).
Auberjonois also made an appearance in the SG-1 episode The Other Side in 2000. He played the leader of the Eurondans named Alar. This character was revealed to be super racist and Nazi-esque as he did not have a great opinion of Teal’c. Ya know, since Christopher Judge isn’t a white guy.
