Star Trek & Stargate: CARY-HIROYUKI TAGAWA
Nearly a decade before he would be Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa appeared in the very first TNG episode Encounter at Farpoint as part of Q’s court. He portrayed the “Mandarin Bailiff”. Like Tamlyn Tomita in my last post – Tagawa is from Japan, not China.
Two years after Shang Tsung, Tagawa appeared in the first season of Stargate SG-1 as Turghan – a Genghis Khan type of character – that would probably be considered culturally inappropriate these days (much like the Mandarin Bailiff).
